Moved into our new building
Because we were having so much fun, we forgot to take New Year’s pictures, but we moved into our new home and it smells fresh!! Everyone did amazing!

A small group of us from the Bor Lab, along with other trainees from Forsyth, pitched in to assemble goody bags for children benefiting from the ForsythKids program.

We help serve 40 families today with East End House, and reached as many as 300 individuals. Great job everyone!

Lab kayaking was splashy! Members from the He and Davey Lab joined us too. Also we promise that Maya was with us, she took all the selfies!

Halloween
After four years of absence, Halloween finally came back to Forsyth. We were gram-negative Magnetospirillum, Leptospira, Photorhabdus, and gram-positive Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus.

Good food, great event, and even better company, Forsyth day of connection was a great time to hangout with each other. We heard from the President of Boston Museum of Science!

This year, we were fully immersed in the MIT microbiome symposium. Jett help organize the symposium in his poop shirt while Deepak and Nell presented their first posters.

Forsyth Retreat
We joined our Forsyth Institute colleagues on the Thompson Island in Boston to have full day of fun activities, including volleyball, ping-pong and socializing.

Lab Climbing
Pipette training does help with climbing, and everyone did really well for their first time. Our forearms were still sore after two days.

Forsyth Taste & Toast
We help organize the Forsyth annual Taste and Toast event. Everyone (not Dr. Bor) came up with amazing idea to use lego pieces to represent bacteria and form biofilm by forcing people to interact with each other. We won few raffle tickets too :)

Lab Retreat
First recorded Bor Lab retreat was a cabin trip in the middle of the Maine Mountains. We learned a lot about each other and created wonderful memories.

March Madness Brackets
Women and men’s brackets are up, and we had a lot of fun! Nell won the men’s bracket and the overall points, Dr. Bor won the women’s bracket but was last on the men’s.

Christmas, New Years, 2021
PANDEMIC cannot stop us. We had fun giving each other gifts and bringing our spirits back up. Dr. Bor’s head scribed cup made by Jett was the highlight!

Badminton Practice
Deepak showed us his immaculate badminton skills before the summer ended. It was a very windy day for sports, but we wrapped up the experience with a lab toast!

Ligature Application
Otto is schooling Dr. Bor how to tie a ligature on a tiny second molar of mouse maxilla. Otto was setting up for his live video recording of the ligature procedure (STAR Protocols).

Summer Hangout
This was our first official hang out as a lab together. We chatted and learned a lot about each other. Deepak will also enjoy his postdoc appreciation week present, and learn a bit more about US literature.

Outdoor Ballin'
We found out Yansong is really good at basketball, while Deepak could use a little more practice. Dr. Bor is getting old but he held his own and made few shots. We all had fun and that is what matters!

Recruitment
The Bor Lab is always recruiting good talent! New trainee Einstein is a good fit in the lab, but he could use a little more training in molecular microbiology and bacterial genetics.
